Phil King
Phil King is Professor of Physics and a Royal Society University Research Fellow at the University of St Andrews, UK. He holds MPhys and PhD degrees from the Universities of Oxford and Warwick, UK, following which he worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Felix Baumberger in St Andrews, and then as a Kavli Postdoctoral Fellow at Cornell University, working with Profs. Kyle Shen and Darrell Schlom. His research is focused on the electronic structure of quantum materials, including systems with strong electronic correlations, spin-orbit materials, 2d materials, and topological solids. He is co-director of the Centre for Designer Quantum Materials in St Andrews (www.quantummatter.co.uk), and is the recipient of several prizes and awards including the Roy Prize of the UK Institute of Physics (2009), the Gerhard Ertl Young Investigator Award of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (2013) and a Philip Leverhulme prize (2015).
