Abstract
Speaker James McIver
James McIver received his PhD from Harvard University in 2014, where he studied the nonlinear optical and optoelectronic properties of topological insulators. Afterwards, he joined the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow. At Max Planck,he developed ultrafast optoelectronic circuitry for performing time-resolved transport and on-chip THz measurements, which he used to study topological Floquet-Bloch states in graphene. Later this year, he will be starting his own research group as part of the new “Center for Nonequilibrium Quantum Phenomena”—a collaborative research center between the Max Planck Institute, Columbia University, and the Flatiron Institute.
