SpeakerJeong Young Park

Jeong Young Park is currently a group leader at the Center for Nanomaterials and Chemical Reactions, Institute for Basic Science, and an associate professor at the Graduate School of EEWS, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Republic of Korea. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. from the Department of Physics, Seoul National University in 1993 and 1999, respectively. After spending three years at the University of Maryland as a postdoctoral associate, he joined the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where he worked as a staff scientist. His research focuses on surface phenomena covering energy dissipation and conversion at surfaces, nanotribology, catalysis, and hot electron transport through metal–oxide interfaces. He has published 140 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the fields of surface science and catalysis. He is the recipient of KAIST 10 R&D (2013), Top R&D Achievements (National Science & Technology Commission, 2012), Top 50 Research Achievement (National Research Foundation, 2012), and Monthly Scientist Award (Daejeon City, 2011). abstract
