SpeakerAndrew Wee

Professor Andrew Wee is a Provost's Chair of Physics, and Vice President (University and Global Relations) at the National University of Singapore (NUS).
He is also the Director of the Surface Science Laboratory in the Department of Physics, and an adjunct scientist at the Agency of Science, Technology and Research's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering.

Prof Wee was a visiting scientist with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories in the US, a Commonwealth Fellow as well as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford. He is President of the Singapore National Academy of Science (SNAS), Fellow of the Institute of Physics UK (IoP), SNAS, Institute of Physics Singapore (IPS), as well as an academician of the Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM). He holds a BA (Hons) and MA in Physics from the University of Cambridge, and a DPhil from the University of Oxford.

Prof Wee's research interests include scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and synchrotron radiation studies of the molecule-substrate interface, graphene and 2D materials, and related device studies. He has published more than 500 internationally refereed scientific papers, and is an Associate Editor of ACS Nano, and on the Editorial Boards of Surf. Interface Anal., and Surf. Rev. Lett. abstract
